6th GLOBALSPIN TRADE CONCLAVE ON PROMOTION OF HANDLOOMS & SILK GAVE RISE TO WEB 3.0 SOLUTIONS FOR TEXTILE SECTOR.

India’s most awaited and prestigious event in Textile, Handloom and Handicraft industry event; 6th edition of GLOBALSPIN Trade Conclave on Export Promotion of Handlooms, Silk and Technical Textiles held on 18-19th November, at The Capitol Hotel, Raj Bhawan Road, Bangalore.

World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises (WASME) & IAMKHAADII Foundation (IAMKHADI) in association with TESG Innovations Pvt. Ltd. (tESG) organized 6th GlobalSpin Trade Conclave.

The GlobalSpin Trade Conclave was sponsored by the Ministry of MSME, the Government of India; Government of Karnataka as ‘State Partner’ and NIFT foundation for Design Innovation (NFDI), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India as Knowledge Partner.

Mr. Shankar Patil Munenakoppa,  Hon’ble Minister for Handlooms & Textile, Sugar Government of Karnataka and Mr. K.C. Narayana Gowda, Hon’ble Minister  for Sericulture,Youth Empowerment and Sports Department Government of Karnataka were invited as the Chief Guest.

The two days conclave was a powerful amalgamation of Industry and Foreign experts as well as some known personalities that have made significant contribution in this space. It was attended by the key Government of India and Government of Karnataka officials including Ms. Gloryswarupa Sunchu, Director General at National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (ni-msme), Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India; Mr. Subhransu Acharya, Chief General Manager at SIDBI; Dr. Rajendra Kumar Kataria, IAS Principal Secretary for the Department of Horticulture & Sericulture and many others along with Ms. Myra Widiono, Chairperson, Indonesian Natural Dye & Fiber Organization, Government of Indonesia

The core ethos lies in working towards expanding boundaries for the Indian textile industry, how the processes can be streamlined, innovative procedures to prevent extra wastage of resources, maintaining quality standards that leads to a good recommendation cycle, and with the implementation of new-age technology, how the various stakeholders can benefit from it the most.  These practices can lead the Indian Textile industry to having a strong market positioning around the globe and set exemplary standards that are followed by other countries. This would further create various domestic opportunities for the MSME/ Start-up sector that can make significant contributions in empowering the unheard masses and creating a balanced ecosystem. 

Spanning over two days, the conclave had series of Panel Discussion, Demonstrations, Fireside Chat with over 30+ industry and sector leaders and International Foreign Experts from Singapore (Ms. Sonny Mohanty, Co-Founder, Bitqin), Indonesia (Ms. Carmanita Mambu, Foreign Expert International Fashion Designer), Bangladesh (Mr. S. M. Zillur Rahman, Chairman Rahman Group), and Canada (Ms. Huma Aslam, Premium Fashion Brand & Web 3.0 Strategist) as speakers. The discussion focussed on Technology interventions that enhance micro-entrepreneur’s, Financial offerings in this sector that can pump funds in start-up’s/ MSME,  Market Access that can help them get wider audiences, Research and Development and Export Promotion. These topics provided the required knowledge and exposure to its attendees.

Many key challenges were addressed and the solutions were proposed in innovative financing, Traceability and Blockchain, AI, and Metaverse and various MSME schemes. The idea behind this successful event is attributed to the synchronised efforts that the Organizers, Foreign Experts, Leaders and Industry Veterans showcase at the event.

The conclave opened doors to develop a use case study to achieve traceability in the supply chain for the Mysore Silk. In order to do that, a visit was organzied by Dr. Rajendra Kumar Kataria, IAS Principal Secretary for the Department of Sericulture, Govt. of Karnataka to make us understand the process of how silk is processed from farm to the store. For which, a delegation comprising of International Foreign Delegates, Blockchain Startup, TRACEYARN, Yash Arya from IAMKHADI and Dr. Ajit Nigam, CEO and Director, NFDI (Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India) were made to understand the silk farming, the e-marketplace where reelers buy cocoons directly from the farmers, silk reeling process with ARMs and weaving process. The purpose of the visit is to understand the processes that each stakeholder follows in the supply chain and to identify the key data points that needs to be store on Blockchain to enable traceability so that Mysore Silk and Garments made can be uniquely identified in the global market. This will reduce the counterfeit and waste management.

More than 200+ MSMEs, including artisans, designers, traders, exporters, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, artisans, Startups and participants attended the conclave that provided great opportunities to learn, share best practices and build networks.

The culmination of 6th edition of GlobalSpin Trade Conclaves gave rise to an idea towards organizing   “GlobalSpin G20 Start-up Business Network Roundtable” proposed to be organized in 10 cities like Delhi, Noida, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Bhopal and Thiruvananthapuram during FY 2023-24 focusing GI and ODOP in lines to promote Startup-20 under India’s G-20 presidency. With the vision is to identify emerging innovations, technology intervention & enablement in bringing MSMEs & Start-ups to the forefront of G20 Nations’ from India’s evolving Startup ecosystem with focus on Web 3.0 Solutions for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) under UNSDG
