Apeejay Stya University celebrates National Law Day

Gurugram: Celebrating the rule of law and the vibrant Indian Constitution, ‘National Law Day’ was recently celebrated at the School of Legal Studies (SoLS) at Apeejay Stya University.
 
Constitution Day, also known as ‘National Law Day’, is celebrated in India on 26 November every year to commemorate adoption of the Constitution of India. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted
the Constitution of India and it came into effect on 26 January 1950. National Law Day acts as a reminder of the pivotal role that law plays in safeguarding individual freedom, promoting justice and maintaining societal order. It encourages a culture of respect for the law, fostering a society where laws are understood, respected and applied equitably.
 
The School of Legal Studies imparts trans-disciplinary legal education with a view to produce industry oriented legal professionals. The School infuses new ideas into cutting edge issues of law. It has been bestowed with several awards and listed among the top private Law colleges in North India.
 
Dr. Neha V. Berlia, Co-Founder & Pro Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, while welcoming all the distinguished guests and participants congratulated the School of Legal Studies at ASU for celebrating this very important occasion of the 75th National Law Day. Dr Berlia said, “By observing the National Law day, we seek to depict not only the importance of the Indian Constitution but also highlight that Law is a very important subject and it is equally important to spread awareness on how significant it is for every citizen to know the prevailing laws of the land.”
 
The highlight of the event was a keynote address by the Hon’ble Chief Guest, Shri H.L. Tiku, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India on the significance of the Constitution of India. Shri Tiku is a renowned and seasoned legal expert. He said, “The constitution of India and the fundamental rights guarantees not just the legal provisions but the very essence of nationhood, for building a just and inclusive society.” As a word of advice to the budding lawyers at the School of Legal Studies, Shri Tiku emphasised on the time tested virtues of honesty, integrity and professionalism. The event saw an intellectually stimulating Panel Discussion on the topic – The journey of 75 years of the Indian Constitution.
