“Congratulations to the winners and runner-up teams of the DaVinci SoccerBot Championship 2022, and also to International S.T.E.A.M Research for having worked very hard to bring in enthusiasm for Innovation among students through Learning and Technology. It was an exciting event,” said Fr. Josh Kanjooparambil SDB, Principal of Don Bosco Central School, Puthuppally, at the conclusion of the first ISR DaVinci SoccerBot Championship (DSC) finals on October 11, 2022.
The Championship encouraged students not just to compete, but also plan, design, build their own Soccer Robots, team logos as well as manage the entire championship with an entrepreneurial mindset under the guidance and mentorship of ISR S.T.E.A.M Experts.
A total of 13 teams took part in this high octane championship. Each team consisted of a maximum of 6 players with a mix of both girls and boys from grades 7, 8 & 9. The preliminary round was based on a knock-out basis, while the second round was based on a round robin system to qualify for the semi-finals and finals. Each match lasted for 40 minutes which included various creative performances by each team to provide entertainment to the spectators and supporters.
The championship was a 6- day event; however, planning and preparation for this event had started in the month of February 2022. The students showed commendable enthusiasm and involvement throughout these seven months. From the start to execution to conclusion, the entire process was implemented mindfully with utmost mutual respect. The tournament thus brought forth true Life Champions.
Don Bosco Schools Puthuppally, Kerala, took up the initiative to host the first ISR DSC in India in order to lead the way and make a long-term impact in the present educational system. NEP-2020 encourages research and enquiry based hands-on Experiential Learning. Such initiatives are key to the holistic development for students to become future-ready, mindful problem-solvers and productive Global Citizens.
“Our students have been involved with ISR S.T.E.A.M activities and it has had a profound impact on them as it is very evident and noticeable in their behavior, the way they think, communicate and collaborate with each other. The hands-on experience of the DaVinci SoccerBot Championship has brought a lot of joy and happiness to the students of our school. We look forward to the next championship” said Fr. Tony Cherian SDB, Principal of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Puthuppally.
‘Golden Warriors’ team from Don Bosco Central School, Puthuppally won the ISR DSC 2022 by 1 goal, while the team from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School was the runners-up.
It was truly an event By the Students, For the Students and With the Students in every sense.
