13 April 2025, Kochi:

Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), founded in Kolkata in the year 1925 by G.D Birla the patriarch of the Birla group, has launched its Kerala Council in Kochi. The initiation meeting in Kochi was attended by the founding members of ICC‘s Kerala Council, as well as other leading industrialists and entrepreneurs of the state.

Over the past few years, ICC has seen exponential global and national growth under the leadership of it’s immediate Past President Shri Ameya Prabhu, Managing Director of Nafa Capital, and it’s present President Shri Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless.

With operations in 22 states across India, and in 27 other countries, ICC has emerged into a ‘National Chamber of Commerce’ that works closely with the Central government towards promoting trade and commerce for India based businesses and diaspora across the world.

In Kerala too, ICC intends to set up sectorial committees in chosen industries relevant to the state’s economy, and strategically work towards the development of the business ecosystem in Kerala with regulatory and governmental interventions, learning and awareness programmes and events, and curated networking and trade interactions.

Abhyudhyay Jindal, President, ICC, spoke at the event. “ICC is eager to support the Kerala business community with its nationwide and global network, to promote trade and commerce, offer opportunities to participate in and meet with international trade delegations, provide a stronger voice in interactions with central and state Governments and integrate more with the larger business community across India” he said.

”Among different Chambers of Commerce in India, ICC stands apart in its scale and global presence, and with how its leadership is envisioning a Chamber built for the future with no legacy constraints, this can be an exceptionally resourceful support system for businesses in Kerala” said Vinay James Kynadi, the founding Chairman of ICC’s Kerala Council.

“This provides businesses in Kerala with a platform to work along with stakeholders and businesses across India to collaborate and explore synergistic opportunities around the world, and we are excited to be launching ICC’s operations in Kerala” said Jacob Babu, CEO of the Baby Marine Group.
