Interview with Subrata Saha –  Founder of Talenticaa . India’s top modeling agency and fashion event organizer.  – | Success Spotlight Edition – 1 by Entrepreneur Street

Q1: Can you provide a brief introduction about yourself and your background? What inspired you to pursue your current field or profession?

Interviewee: I was born in the vibrant city of Kolkata in 1982, where culture and history resonate at every corner. My academic journey has predominantly been in the Arts. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, and I am currently pursuing my MA in history. My fascination lies in global culture and world affairs, with a particular passion for Indian history, modern history, Medieval history, and the rich tapestry of global history. Within the realm of Arts, the fashion industry has captivated my attention for over two decades. I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with industry giants like Shoppers Stop and Big Bazaar for their fashion events. Notably, we orchestrated a national-level event known as the India Heritage Fashion Week, bringing together more than 70 fashion designers from across India.

Q2: What products/services do you provide? And how are you doing it differently?

Interviewee: Our venture, Talenticaa, is focused on organizing events spanning the length and breadth of India. To date, we’ve successfully executed over 120 events across the country. What sets our events apart is our unwavering commitment to promoting Indian heritage and handlooms. Additionally, I am currently in the process of crafting a book that delves into the roots of fashion within Indian history and culture. We are also venturing into the realm of web series, among other exciting initiatives.

Q3: Can you share some key milestones or achievements that have played a significant role in your journey so far?

Interviewee: I view achievements as milestones, each marking a stepping stone towards a greater goal. While I have been honored with multiple national and state-level awards, my ultimate achievement would be achieving global recognition in the fashion industry, representing India’s rich fashion legacy. A recent milestone that brought me immense pride was the successful organization of a World Heritage Pageant, featuring delegates from 18 countries, all representing their diverse and culturally rich backgrounds.

Q4: What challenges did you face along the way, and how did you overcome them? Are any specific lessons learned from these experiences?

Interviewee: One of the primary challenges we face is the lack of awareness among Indians about the deep-rooted origins of global fashion within our subcontinent. Historically, we held 48% of the global clothing market, yet today, our younger generations often look to the West for fashion inspiration. Additionally, promoting Indian Handloom products within India itself presents challenges, whereas these products enjoy high demand in the West.

On a personal note, my initial days in this profession were marked by difficulties in communication due to my vernacular education. However, with time, I gained confidence and fluency in my conversations.

Q5: Can you describe a moment or project where you felt a sense of personal success and fulfillment?

Interviewee: Not yet, but I believe that the journey to personal success and fulfillment is an ongoing one.

Q6: What drives your dedication and commitment to your work or cause? Any core values or guiding principles that you adhere to?

Interviewee: My unwavering dedication is fueled by my profound passion for ancient India and world history. I aspire to promote this heritage in a unique and impactful way to the world. I strongly follow the teachings of Swami Vivekananda Ji, who has imparted the wisdom to “Don’t stop if you are tired. Stop when you are done.”

Q7: Can you share a story or example where you made a positive impact in someone’s life or your community?

Interviewee: Our work on pageants revolves around empowerment. By bringing together diverse individuals, we empower multiple communities. Last year, we extended invitations to 18 delegates from various countries to visit India and share their values and commitments. Our goal is to continue this cultural exchange by inviting 25 to 30 delegates from different countries, thereby empowering both international and Indian youths through this enriching experience.

Q8: What is your vision for the future? How do you see yourself or your work contributing to a better world?

Interviewee: I firmly believe that those who forget their history cannot have a glorious future. Basic knowledge of and reverence for one’s cultural heritage and history are essential. My vision entails a future where people not only respect their language and traditions but also embrace them wholeheartedly. I aim to play a pivotal role in helping individuals rebuild their legacies.
